Day 4

Another fantastic day today here at Caythorpe.

The boys corridor slept really well last night without Mr Hodge keeping them awake with his snoring. We were first into breakfast at 7.15, so it was an early start, which was not appreciated. Once we'd filled up on bacon, eggs, yet more beans, plenty of toast and cereal, we were a lot happier. 

Morning activities were: 'The trapeze', Survival Skills and a challenge course. The Trapeze involved climbing up a pole and leaping off the top to grab onto a swinging bar. With the high winds this morning, they had an extra wobbly time at the top of the pole. It was a relief for some of the children that they didn't have to climb up high again for the next activity. In Survival Skills, they learnt to lay tracks for someone to follow, light fires and survive in the wild. Feel free to abandon them one weekend in the future and they won't perish!

Going kayaking this afternoon was a highlight for most children, as it involved getting wet again! Lots of soggy wet, stinky clothing is making its way back to you tomorrow.

This evening was Robot Wars. The children used cardboard boxes to dress each other as robots. There were some amazing creations. Blindfolded they had to 'battle' each other to win the flag!

Yes, that's right, after what was a calm, relaxing 2-hour drive whilst listening to radio 5-live (I presume everyone on the coach was doing the same as me), we've arrived at Caythorpe. This is usually the part of our blog where I make it out that everything is really fancy and high-tech, even if it's actually all just a little dilapidated. However, on this occasion, everything here genuinely seems nice! The children all have fancy en-suite rooms, there's a huge number of modern and exciting-looking activities available and the staff get a personal little room (with TV) to relax in. Perfect! Nothing too much of note has happened so far, but here's a quick run-down: - Everyone seems to have enjoyed their dinner, even if a surprising number of them have informed me that they 'don't eat any vegetables'. Day 2

We’ve just about finished our second day and it’s been another successful one. Having woken up to the beautiful sounds of someone shouting, “IT’S 5:18! IT’S 5:18!!” and knocking on everyone’s doors, we’ve had plenty of time to enjoy our day. No, I’m not quite sure what the rush was to get up quite that early. Maybe all the boys take that long to get ready for a 7:45am breakfast? Maybe we should’ve spent more lessons on time in the class? Or maybe someone had a flight to catch. I guess we’ll never know. Following a breakfast of bacon butties and spaghetti hoops (a slightly odd combination), we’ve set about completing a host of different activities.
